Hello! Thank you so much for visiting my site, having my own website was something I always wanted to do but never thought I would genuinely have one but here I am!
My name is Nicole and I am an artisan, I work for a highly reputable arts and crafts company and absolutely love my job!
I always loved art and crafts ever since I was a young girl, I remember my Nan taught me how to sew when I was around 7 years old and I was off! I couldn’t wait to start sewing things like dresses for my barbies and teddies, I remember sewing a phone case for my Nokia 3310!! Don’t knock it they were amazing phones! 😋
As I grew older I got more into the art side of things finding a love for painting and drawing. I studied art & design for my GCSE and absolutely loved it and knew this was what I wanted to do forever!
Along the way however there would always be a few dream crushers who would make unsupportive comments and that would set me back to thinking I should just get into a more streamlined career and kept my artsy craftyness for a hobby.
I was always drawing and painting and taught myself how to knit and crochet, I would regularly display artwork in local cafes and had a few sales but in regards to my job I could never fully feel happy in any job I was in!
And I think that was the bottom line, I would always fall back to wanting to fulfill this dream of doing what I love for a job!!
After my first son was born I decided I not only wanted to do this for me now but for him too, parents always want to give their children the very best but I didn’t want to do it more so for money but I wanted him to grow up seeing his Mum happy in what she does and have him know that if you really want to do something then don’t let anything or anyone put you down!
I went back to college in 2014 and gained my BTEC Level 3 qualification in Fine Arts earning myself a double distinction.
I was ecstatic that I had finally pushed myself into doing what I loved and started looking for a job surrounding art immediately. I regularly applied for work at local art galleries but to no avail and shortly after I became pregnant again with my second beautiful son who was born in 2017.
At this point I was sick of having no job at all and applied to a local supermarket just to keep myself going financially and mentally. In all honesty I felt deflated again and started to give up hope until this job opportunity popped up. I applied straight away and was so happy when I got the job!
I was hired as a colleague and have since been given the position of Artisan so it is so wonderful to finally be recognised.
As an artisan I make a variety of inspirations to showcase in the store and also hold regular workshops for adults and children!
It is such an incredible job I feel so blessed and in my own time I am always so busy with my own arts and crafts.
I have become a crochet fanatic and always have a list of projects whirling around in my head! I still love painting and drawing and I am always trying new fads that pop up every now and again and I love that I now have a platform where I can experiment with everything and share this with others too!
In general my life is pretty crazy, I am a single Mum and sometimes it can become hard to do everything when you have two gorgeous boys running around causing mayhem but I wouldn’t have it any other way! They are my everything ❤️
So that’s it, a small snippet of how I became an artisan and from now onwards I would love to eventually have my own small business where I would sell things I have crafted.
Thank you so much for reading, I hope you have an amazing day and enjoy having a flitter through my other content too! 😊
